Tips On Generating New Content Marketing Ideas
Generating content, consistently, takes hard work and dedication. Whether it’s through curation, writing organic pieces, or sharing images and videos, posting relevant content is a practice perfected over time.
One of the topics I’ve recently been asked about, is generating new ideas. Creative block is an issue that many of us will run into at some point. Our posts begin to look the same, and we lose track of our purpose and voice.
Each social media platform has its own unique audience and purpose. The same content will not yield the same results, when posted (uniformly) across various social media channels. In fact, this can be a useful exercise to test your audience engagement.
LinkedIn Content Idea Generation – Three Pillars
- Profession
- Industry
- Theme
When generating new ideas, three pillars to fall back on – for LinkedIN – are profession, industry, and theme. Profession is simply defined as your expertise, trade, or craft. Profession is your voice. The second pillar is topical. Industry content allows you to connect directly with professionals… in that industry. Themes dictate the direction of your content. News, technology, research, year-over-year comparisons, and benchmarks are all examples of thematic approaches.
For content generation, you can look at these three pillars separately, or you can tie them all together. When you start to see the synergy, one idea will lead to the next. Save your new ideas for later, and you’ll have something to start with! And don’t forget to post a good photo – a picture is worth a thousand words. Happy posting.
